A friend sent me a picture of us in the backyard here at flows from four years ago!

It is incredible to see how far this old blue building has come.💫💫

I will never forget the excitement, anticipation, and a little fear running through my bones while building a long-time dream.

I would ask my friends to meet me at Bell St to see the soon the be Flow Designs studio!! We would meet in the backyard, I would describe my vision of what it would be, then we would go for walks along the river, and I would continue to talk about all the dreams I had for the space.

Cherished memories💫 my daughter was 1.

Four years later, I have two kids, a fantastic employee, and a successful design biz!! My sister and husband help the team along in any way they can and a community of amazing people who continue to show their love and support, not to mention my amazing tribe of friends that always like, comment, share, and show up for flows!!

I am most grateful to my parents for the tools they provided for me to have such success thus far.

My Dad taught me and continues to teach me how to work hard and run a business. My mom inspired me always to dream big, never give up, and always believe in myself!! She was also very optimistic and funny, which I like to think rubbed off too!! 🙃

So on this day of chasing rainbows and drinking green beer, I would like to say Cheers:

Did you set your clocks an hour ahead? It's a hard adjustment, but I look forward to longer days!!

We had a fantastic night last night playing bingo!! It was a sold-out event which made my heart sore! Thank you to all the ladies that came and wore their bling.

We learned that we need a microphone, a phone charging station, and that people are serious about their bingo!

How do you measure your accomplishments?

In my 20s, I was a lost soul. Getting my degree in ID wasn’t easy; I lost my mom with a year left to the finish line, and I wanted to give up; I got lost on my path but somehow managed to find my way through. Something deep within me yearned to be an interior designer. Maybe it was for my mom, or perhaps to say I was an interior designer, which I thought sounded so accomplished.

Now I am 40. I am an interior designer, not for my mom, not because it sounds cool, but because I LOVE creating interiors that make people feel good. I love transforming a space to its fullest potential and developing flow and function. I love what I do. I love connecting with people for a 1-hour consultation or for a year to help transform an entire home impacting their life in so many different ways.

I believe that is how I measure my accomplishments!
I wake up every day excited to work, grow, learn and inspire. I wouldn't have it any other way!!

One of my favorite things to do on the weekend is to revamp parts of our home. Usually, we have a lot going on, and time does not allow for this, but this weekend we made the time, and we got it done.

This past weekend the goal was to make our primary bedroom cozier!!

Inspired by a hand woven, oriental rug from my grandparents, and the need to make our @fourhandsfurniture bed pop, I chose a dark blue from the rug. We painted the wall, got the rug out of storage and laid the big sucker out!!

It feel so much better 😌

Rolling out a rug is like seeing the sun after a long, cold, snowy week….

It feels marvelous💫💫💫

Try to find the right rug size? Make sure it fit under all the furniture pieces in the room. The sofa doesn't need to be on the rug entirely but a least the front feet of it!!

A rug will bring a lot of warmth and comfort into a space and ground all the pieces of the room, helping to define the area along with adding a nice touch of texture, pattern and color!!

Do you ever feel like you need to slow things down and take a moment to breathe?

It's so easy to get distracted and, off course, when you're going 100 miles an hour.

This bathroom was added to the scope of the project mid-remodel. Instead of going with a pop of color and giving it lots of personality, we slowed things down. We made it calming and peaceful.

I love this simple, clean design. I feel like it allows you that moment to breathe, pause to gather your thoughts, and recuperate.

Because it's Friday, and going to snow all weekend, and all I want to do is plop into a cozy sofa, with comfy clothes and binge on something entertaining and ignore my kids.

The reality is I have a kid's bday party to prepare for, 20 loads of laundry to do, and two kids that need something every time I get cozy on the sofa 😂😂 and well-adulting things that must be taken care of!

We just returned from our trip to the happiest place on earth, Disneyland, and I can help but talk about the design of this place.

The Pure imagination and creativit is out if this world.

Disney is able to bring so many different ages and ethnicity together to feel included and loved, all while invoking feelings of mistic and wonder, now that's good design!

It is incredible how you can walk from one magical land to the next, transporting you from the animated lands of Tune Town and Carsland to the depths of outer space and under the sea.

I don’t think you need to be a Dinsey lover to appreciate the mastery that goes into the design of the rides, attractions, and layout. It is amazing!

Good design should move your soul and make you feel something. It should impact all your senses and leave you wanting to know what is next......Disney sure does that. With over 18 million visitors a year, they are doing something right!

My heart is breaking for those suffering in Turkey and Syria right now. With over 11,000 dead and many still trapped or not found, it cripples my soul to think of what they are going through.

This year I set out to focus on the things I can change. As I watch the news, I know there is little I can do for those suffering but what I can do is focus on being kind, loving, and empathetic to those around me.

None of us are untouchable. Our actions and thoughts are controlled by you and me alone, which is powerful.

I just got back from Las Vegas! I love attending industry shows when possible. I feel like it’s one of the most valuable things I can do as an interior designer to stay up-to-date on all the trends, products, and newest advancements in the industry.

One of the things I remind myself of is that to be inspiring; you must first be inspired. Taking the time, money, and energy out of my busy schedule to attend these shows allows me the opportunity to find the inspiration I need to come back to my job and inspire others!

A little Monday morning motivation, and/or you could call it a reminder that your home doesn’t have to be a perfectly curated look straight out of a magazine. It should embody who you are and what you’ve been through.

This client of mine brought all her past furnishings from her life and made the space, feel comfortable and joyful.

Staying true to who you are is major in creating a happier healthier home.

After we her remodel was finished I helped her hang all her art. She had a story for each piece. It was wonderful hearing all the stories of her past and the memories she had connected with these pieces.

As an interior designer, I have a lot to teach my clients, but on the other hand, they always teach me some thing. This woman moved to Reno by her self, after losing everyone close to her and started a whole new life. She’s bold, courageous, and one hell of a woman. I loved every moment with her and the deep conversations we would have about life.

There’s something to gain in every relationship you have!!

What do you do on your day off?

I never realized how valuable my two days off were until we had two kids. My “days off,” if I can call them that, generally consist of picking up the house, running errands, and doing laundry. The trick is to get all the laundry folded and put away before the week begins, or else it is pure chaos.🤪

My hubby and I try hard to plan something fun with the kids!! This weekend we have a pizza-making playdate planned with our neighbors!

Creating a comfortable interior isn't about spending a ton of money. It can be as simple as picking up your space and putting things back where they belong!! A comfortable, clean home is a functional and happier way to start the week!!

What is the most significant investment when remodeling your kitchen?

It's Cabinets; the whole kitchen is designed around your cabinets: the size of your appliances, the walkway between your island and your perimeter cabinets, the countertop, and the backsplash are all centered around those cabinets. Therefore choosing quality cabinets that will withstand the test of time is vital!

Let's shine some light on shower niches...

Niches are a fun and creative way to add a pop to your shower, but they can be tricky to predict, especially once you open up the wall and see what is beneath the surface. We had different plans for the direction of this niche, but I think it turned out OK. What do you think?

I came across this quote over the weekend by Theodore Roosevelt. It deeply touched me. I find it to be incredibly accurate in our present day world. I finally took some time to clean up our guest bedroom, or some people might call it the shove all the sh*t in room😝

Ever since we moved into our house in June, this has been the room we just dropped all the stuff we didn't want to deal with and then closed the doors and ignored.

However, this clutter was clogging my mind and life. In lieu of my new goals, I decided to make the changes needed in the space. A few hours later, Wala, I had myself a guest bedroom!!

Man, oh man, 2023 has come upon us so quickly! As I enter into a full year of my 40s and another year in business, I finally realize the most important thing I can do is love myself.

This business that I have created has been a dream come true, but I seem to get lost in the hustle and bustle and forget to recognize all the accomplishments we have had and all the reasons I created Flow Designs. It was never just about designing beautiful homes but inspiring others to live positive, happy, fulfilling life by creating and choosing the chance to make changes in their lives, your life, and in my life that are for the better. For as long as I can remember, I have been a positive person; I can thank my mom for that. I look on the bright side of things. I find the silver linings even through dark times and that's what I want Flow Designs to represent. Positivity, optimism, encouragement, the ability to show others that there are beautiful, magical things in life if you allow yourself to look for them and focus on the things you can change, not the things you can’t change, embrace all that you do have by not concentrating on what you don't have.

As you move forward in 2023, tell yourself that you are capable, strong as hell, and can do anything you put your mind and heart into. Stay focused on the light, do not let the darkness consume you, and check back here if you need a reminder of how amazing you are!

Kitchens are addicting and so enjoyable to design!

It’s funny how life can point you in the direction you need to go. When I was in design school, I wanted to be a commercial designer. I never thought I would be into designing kitchens, but I love the challenge and complexity that comes with a kitchen design. To put together a functional, beautiful kitchen that families can enjoy is my high in life!!

As you move towards the new year, look for the signs in life guiding you. I always like to take time to walk, think and listen, and in that moment of silence, I find my way.

Christmas at our house! 🎄💫

It has grown over the years as we have expanded our family. Our goal is to make it feel magical for the kids so they will never forget these moments.

My husband loves to decorate the outside, and I love to decorate the inside. Most of our interior decorations have been passed down from my mom and my grandparents, making them meaningful to me and allow for me to share stories about them with my children, keeping their memory alive.

Our tree is a collection of beautiful vintage ornaments and items my mom made. ❤️

One of my favorite kitchens to date!! Still working on getting this baby photographed!!

There’s an incredible behind-the-scenes story with this client. She called me up desperately needing help, and it was at the point I was about to give birth to Giavanna, I told her I was just too full to take her on. However, she talked me into doing her floorplans which then developed into her cabinet and full-on kitchen design! Not only was she the easiest, most enjoyable client, but she is now my neighbor and the one responsible for helping us find our beautiful home!! If I had passed on her project we never would have found our home!!

This back wall has changed so many times at Flows and is ready for one more major redo!! We are trying to decide what kind of focal wall we want here!!

We are thinking of using white tiles so you can take endless pictures of yourself in front of it. Or wallpaper it with some fantastic wallpaper and create a pop of excitement. Or we add Paneling to ths wall to give it a clean, modern feel.

Kids change everything🤣

Our four-year-old insisted we decorate for Halloween this year!

Ha, in the past, I have always been a practical decorator for fall. No Halloween spooks, just pumpkins and leaves; it last till Thanksgiving, easy peasy!

Then enters Penelope, who wants spooky but not too spooky decorations. Not a haunted house but a nice house,🤣🤣 so we are currently working out our princess graveyard, which has to be pink!

I am fascinated by the emotional connections we carry from our past homes.

When I think of all the homes I have lived in, I see different phases in my life, each bringing out emotions and memories. The home unlocks the memories from that phase of life!

This home will always be my daughter's childhood home. We started our family here. This kitchen was our spot. When I look at this photo, memories flow in, filling me with happiness!

It isn’t the cover of Architecture Digest. It’s not the Pottery Barn bedroom set you’ve been dying for but can’t afford. It’s not the trends dancing across your Instagram in beautifully designed reels that make your heart sore, but your confidence plummet….

Let’s remind ourselves this...

Home is the collection of memories dancing upon the walls. It is a feeling brought on by what is familiar and comforting. A group of family Photos, the sound of wind chimes blowing in the wind, the warmth of the sun hitting you from your favorite window as you drink your morning tea with the sound of kids playing or fighting in the background. 😂

This picture wall is the start of making our home feel like home!
I love seeing these as I go down the stairs! It's not perfect, but my daughter loves it!

We get so scared and limit what we do in our homes and life based on public opinion, in this case, social media. Let's dump what t is trendy or pretty or perfect and replace it with what feels good; what is your budget, and make that flow with your style!

Now hang that art or family photos; it may not be perfect, but it will feel good. 😁

How beautiful is this?

I took this picture leaving Flows the other night and found myself smiling ear to ear!!

This space we created is everything to us! Flow Designs is a manifestation of countless amounts of journaling, dreaming, and praying and then a boatload of hard work, sweat, lots of tears, and I couldn't be more proud.

Now we're dreaming new dreams and

Let me introduce you to the men of Flows!

On the left, we have Greg, aka Gregarino. He helps us when we need extra muscle to move furniture, put things together, and fix stuff!! He is kind and always happy to help!

On the right, we have Patrick, aka hubby or Patty cakes!! Patrick does it all for us, from maintenance to keeping Flow’s organized and clean. He is our muscle, always moving items from our warehouse to our client's home. When Patrick isn’t helping Flows, he takes care of our two girls!! Best girl dad out here!!

Nothing makes a house a home more quickly that adding your own personal touches!! In this case, I wanted to gather my aunt's favorite memories and people to give her a gallery wall to look back on and smile!!

Enjoy this special Monday and those people in your life who matter most! ❤️

The best tip to achieve this is to lay all your frames on the floor in front of the wall to play with the layout.

The presence of breath....

That is what I'm calling this makeover💫

This dramatic before and after is one of my favorites.

Removing the wall allowed for more circulation and created a larger space for this beautiful family to gather and enjoy life again.

Taking down the wall, lightening up the cabinets, and tossing those curtains were the biggest game changers for this space!

May I also mention this beautiful home belongs to a nurse and a teacher! Can we give it up to all the nurses and teachers who make this world better every damn day?!

Goodbye August....

I am always sad to see August go but happy to see September come! Does anyone else feel me there?

Trying to get back into the grid after an 11-day hiatus of all play and no work!! I read a book, got sand in every crevis of my body, replenished my soul and completed a 500-piece puzzle (not a puzzle person, but my four-year-old inspired me!)

Oh, did it feel good. We spent our time on the big island, living the aloha life!

My sister stayed behind and hosted an incredible lady's night at Flows… it all went great!!

It looks like letting go and letting life flow naturally works!

I have to Give a shout out to @marriottbonvoy, for whenever we travel and explore their hotels, we are delighted and always incredibly grateful for the graciousness received when being upgraded to the presidential suite! See video in stories of this cool room!!
